Developing Mechanical Design Thinking for Modern Industrial Automation

From May 25 to May 28, 2026, K29 Mechatronics students participating in ETEK’s enterprise training program attended a specialized course titled “Mechanical Design Thinking in Automated Manufacturing Systems.”

As an essential part of ETEK’s practical training curriculum, the program is designed to help students develop modern mechanical design thinking and gain a deeper understanding of the critical role mechanical engineering plays within industrial automation systems.

Exploring Mechanical Design Thinking in Automation Systems

The training session was conducted by Mr. Tran Le Linh, Head of Development and Quality Assurance at ETEK, who shared practical insights into mechanical design principles applied in modern manufacturing environments.

During the course, students explored a range of topics, including:

  • Mechanical design thinking for industrial automation systems
  • Machine structure design methodologies for manufacturing applications
  • Integration of mechanical engineering, electrical systems, and automation control
  • Equipment operation optimization and maintenance strategies
  • Real-world challenges in Smart Factory and Industry 4.0 environments

Through these practical learning activities, students not only strengthened their technical knowledge but also developed problem-solving skills, engineering thinking, and professional working habits required in modern industrial enterprises.

Mechanical Design: A Foundation of Automated Manufacturing

In today’s advanced manufacturing systems, mechanical design plays a crucial role in ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and production line optimization.

Introducing mechanical design thinking early in the training process helps students adapt more effectively to real industrial environments while building a strong foundation for future careers in mechatronics, automation engineering, and smart manufacturing.

At ETEK, training programs are developed with a strong emphasis on practical application, enabling students to engage directly with real production systems, engineering processes, and industrial challenges.

ETEK – Bridging the Gap Between Learning and Industry Practice

With a strong commitment to industry-oriented education, ETEK continuously creates practical learning environments where students can develop technical expertise, professional skills, and an industrial mindset.

The course “Mechanical Design Thinking in Automated Manufacturing Systems” represents another important milestone in preparing K29 students for advanced technical training and future career opportunities in industrial automation and smart manufacturing.
