On August 14, 2026, ETEK, the Institute of Information Technology – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), and Hanoi Railway Company Limited (Hanoi Metro) signed a cooperation agreement on the research, design, and prototyping of technology solutions for urban railway applications.
The cooperation brings together three complementary capabilities: VNU’s research expertise and scientific resources, ETEK’s capabilities in engineering design, manufacturing and system integration, and Hanoi Metro’s practical operational experience.
The partnership aims to establish an end-to-end development process covering research, design, manufacturing, system integration, testing, and evaluation, helping transform research outcomes into practical technology solutions.
In the initial phase, the three parties will focus on researching, designing, and developing prototypes of selected auxiliary systems for urban railway applications. The cooperation is also expected to contribute to technology localization, strengthen technological self-reliance, and support the development of locally mastered engineering solutions.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Dat – Chairman of the Board of Directors of ETEK, expressed ETEK’s commitment to working with VNU and Hanoi Metro to transform domestic research capabilities into practical products and technology solutions.
The collaboration between research institutions, technology enterprises, and railway operators can help bridge the gap between research and real-world applications while creating opportunities for Vietnamese technology products to enter markets with high technical requirements.
With expertise in automation, engineering design, manufacturing, and system integration, ETEK continues to pursue the development of “Make in Vietnam” technology solutions, contributing to stronger domestic technological capabilities and supporting the development of urban railway systems in Vietnam.
